White shirts are back!

White shirts are back, however, were they ever gone? The new fuss is mostly over Hollywood star, Zendaya wearing a crisp white shirt as part of her Oscars night outfit. Her sharp choice for celebrities’ most glamorous night out was noted as was the pioneer, Sharon Stone who was here first and clearly the inspiration behind the latest iteration.

That the humble white shirt can make such a high impact style statement when worn ‘modestly sexy’ is wonderful and it’s a look that you can easily pull off even if you don’t bare your midriff or cleavage. Why does a white shirt work so well? It reflects light back on to your skin leaving the impression that you have a glowing halo around you.

We have two white shirts at Pop London and a third style that also works.

The pleat collar blouse (above) with ruffles (£45) made with pure white cotton and finished with crystal buttons has subtle detailing but creates a lasting impact. Want to make it sexy for Summer? Knot it at the front and wear with your favourite linen trousers or midi skirt.

The next two examples, the Pop London Cherie blouse range is one of the sharpest crepe blouses that looks megabucks with the concealed buttons and elegant cuff design. The blouse on the left is pure white blouse and the blouse on the right is pale blue but with contrasting white collar and cuffs meaning you still benefit from the glow of a white blouse. Take a closer look and shop the range here.
